"It is the sad truth that when white women gain a “right” or “privilege” (something all people should have had all along), women of color are left to fill the spots left behind. Historically, the Peggys of the world have forgotten about the Dawns of the world and this is sometimes still the case. We as feminists should be aware that the victories of feminism will almost always affect those of us who are white before they will affect women of color. We must actively combat this by making race issues one of our most important topics of discussion. We must work to make sure that feminism is not only for white women but for all women. We do not live in the era of Mad Men anymore; let’s work to make sure it stays in the past."
